The Igla is a Soviet man-portable air-defense system designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, and unmanned aerial vehicles at low altitudes. Its infrared homing seeker tracks the heat emissions of target engines. The missile provides improved resistance to countermeasures, making it effective against maneuvering aerial targets equipped with flares.
The system is simple to operate: the gunner aims at the target and waits for the lock-on indication. Its portable design allows for rapid relocation after firing.
In the simulator, the Igla is reproduced with an accurate infrared seeker model, realistic lock-on mechanics, and authentic missile flight behavior. This enables operators to practice launch timing, target tracking, and assessing engagement parameters under conditions similar to real combat.
